My Dream for my Lompoc Blog

I Luv Lompoc and I want to promote what is  great about it.

Lompoc has a monthly publication called the Vision. It has information about the Lompoc Valley including civic activities, cultural events as well as community news. Its tag line is "Good news you can use" and that is the mantra I want to emulate with this blog. Victor Jordon the founder of the magazine newspaper  is my hero and inspiration. I Luv the Vision and look forward to each issue but been frustrated more than once when I couldn't find a copy early enough in the month to attend some of the events announced in the Vision. I wish there was a calendar of events that could be access online. So the idea for this blog was born.
I was hope to be more spontaneous and responsive to the happenings in Lompoc. I'm thinking I'd start small and limit my self to the South side of Lompoc. Partly because that is where I live and where the things that interest me are. I'd make the cut off at the railroad tracks be the North boundary and the city limit signs to the West and South and maybe all the way to river bend park or the bridge leading to it or where highway 1 meets 246? How about Home Depot? I haven't decided yet.

Day 3 of my daily blog a little late because I'm posting this after midnight, but I'm counting it anyway.

blogging on blogging

Day 2 in my 2nd attempt of blogging every day. I read an article about why I don't get around to blogging each day. The jest of the article was it comes down to uncertainty, whether it is the uncertainty of the worth the time spent on the blog or the fear of the outcome of the effort, or reaction to that effort or worst the lack of reaction there of. The key is not to let that stop me from my goals. And I do have a goals for this blog and the kind of information I want to post here, The rest of the article was about how I'm doing everything wrong but that not going to stop me either.

Tomorrow I will write about my plans and goals for this blog and how I hope people in and around Lompoc will be involved. So in my efforts to improve this blog I may from time to time Blog about blogging because Lompoc deserves a Blog. This blog, because I luv Lompoc.

Missed the Mark

So 3 days I've missed my goal to blog daily. I have no excuse I even had a great idea for Sunday. I was going to blog about the fact that the Lompoc Valley Historical Society was having it's annual BBQ and how I was missing it. I was going to blog about the River Bottom Boys come to do a Santa Maria style BBQ each year. I was wondering is Ardeane made her special salad for the event. I was going to lament that I missed out on all the deserts that the members bring. But I missed my goal - So I'm going to start over. Day 1

My Missed Opportunity in Lompoc

Day 3 of missing Lompoc
Today Valley Haven is celebrating their 30th anniversary and I'm missing it. Okay, at $50 a pop I probably wouldn't have been attending. A quick check of their Facebook page there are tickets available a the door. (http://www.lompocvalleyhaven.org/) It is taking place at Clos Pepe Vineyard with Live Music; a Santa Maria Style BBQ and of course beer and wine. The event from 5pm to 9pm.

But I'm still bummed out. Steve and Kathy Pepe have retired and another company will be leasing and working the vineyard. I hears about Clos Pepe at a presentation at the Lompoc Library about the local wine industry back in 2012. They used to have tours and work days where you could work at their Vineyard. Although I don't drink alcoholic beverages. I had thought I'd go pick grapes for the experience. Maybe I missed my opportunity.  Clos Pepe produced their last batch of their label in 2014. Can you tell I don't know much about wine or it's industry? How did a temperance colony become the center of wine vineyards and beer breweries? I luv Lompoc and I miss it. All of it,

GO Lompoc!

Day 2 of missing Lompoc

I miss the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market there in Lompoc on Ocean and F Street. I luv prowling their aisles looking for goodies. Everything tastes better when it's a bargain. I play a game when shopping there - I can buy anything I haven't tried before - I can by anything less than a dollar, but only one - if it says 3 for $1 - I buy one for 33 cents - if I like and they still have some the next time I visit then I can buy more - unless it is Libretti Yogurt  3 for a dollar then I buy at least 3 of each flavor and enjoy. GO LOMPOC!

Missing Lompoc

Today is exactly 2 months of being exiled from Lompoc. Because of an illness I have had to live in the San Fernando Valley close to medical treatment that was not available at our VA clinic in Santa Maria. Luckily my father lives a block away from the Sepulveda VA Hospital and about a half hour away from the Wilshire complex in West LA and I've been staying at my childhood home. But it isn't my home anymore. I miss Lompoc, my home for the past 5 and half years.

The first month I was in so much pain I couldn't do more lay in bed and try to distract myself from the pain. But this past month I have be reevaluating my priorities. One of which is my writing. So today is the first day of  my commitment to write  this now to be daily blog.

Day 1
Missing the cool of Lompoc. It is hot here in the San Fernando Valley. Missing the Historical Society I have been a part of for more than 4 years. I'm missing TAP-TV and the Dr. Draw show I participate in twice a month. I'm missing my comrades at the weekly Toastmasters meetings. I miss the fellowship of the congregation at my church on Prune Street. I miss having a coke at Southside Coffee. (it doesn't taste the same anywhere else) I miss the cool of Lompoc and I don't just mean the temperature on a thermometer.
