"Sweet April showers do spring May flowers."
An aphorism* attributed to Thomas Tusser in
"A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry" in 1557.
This saying has been around along time and was probably around a long time before Mister Tusser choose to write it down and include it in his book. The moral of the adage that "April showers bring May flowers" is to have patience with adversity and anticipate it's benefits instead. As Lompoc, the Valley of Arts and Flowers continues to endure economic struggles we must take heart that this will breed innovation as each of us redefine our priorities or at least how to achieve those priorities.
So it is fitting that our Chamber of Commerce has replaced it's yellow "I Like Lompoc" button with an upgrade to "I Love Lompoc" with a little red heart for the "V" in the word love. Naturally I continue to "luv" Lompoc and leave you with one last quip:
If April showers bring May flowers, what do Mayflowers bring?
Pilgrims, of course.
*Aphorism - pronounced "Af-4-ism", noun: a saying expressing a belief, often true.

Mayday in Lompoc
Although Mayday was a couple of days ago, I am using the term in the sense of a distress call. Lompoc is in need of our help. Actually it's more like an SOS. Instead of Save Our Ship or Save Our Souls, it stands for Save Our Shops. Today is Friday and several local shops are open later for your shopping connivence. They are: Anything Athletic; Bumatay Jewelers; Cypress Gallery; Lompoc Valley Florist; Sue's Place; Surf Connection and T&T's Sweet Repeats. These establishments are open till 8pm on Fridays. Ocean Sport Scuba is open till 8pm on the first Friday of the month. Hey, that's Today! So go out and Support Our local Stores.
I am relaunching my Luv Lompoc blog with new vigor and zeal. Each Friday I going to highlight a local Lompoc Business. If you have an enterprise I'd luv to hear from you.
