Lompoc's TAP-TV has a New Home

There are many changes in the little town I luv; some good, some bad, some big and some small. One of those changes is TAP-TV. The public access studio has move to the top floor of the Anderson Recreation Center on Walnut and I street. The recording studio is much smaller but it still sports a green screen and there is access to the editing equipment still and there is plans for a public access to a radio station in the (hopefully) near future. So much to look forward to.

Lompoc's Historical Theatre

Last night (Thursday, September 18, 2014) I went to a potluck held in the Lilley Building's second floor. I had not had an opportunity to go inside that building ever before and though I was thrilled by the lavash decor (I love dark wood, stain glass and brass fixtures) I've got to say the view of the old theatre's marque through a velvet draped window was the banquet room's best feature. The neon sign spelling out LOMPOC, though not lit, was perfectly framed from where I sat. I long to see it those letters ablaze with electricity. My hopes may be realized because the evening's festivities were put on by the Lompoc Theatre Project.
The Project is a non-profit organization "working to restore and reopen the historic Lompoc Theatre as a venue for the arts, entertainment, education, and culture." according to their brochure and much of the evening's discussion, while "noshing" on delectable food and treats, was how this group get access and ownership the old movie palace. The property is in escrow and about halfway through the process waiting not so much the city, although they are involved but the county as well as the state must sign off on this course of action. Any time government is involve you know you are in for a wait, patience and perseverance is the only remedy. They also held a brainstroming session on how to raise operating cost. Long neglected blog, but I still luv Lompoc!

I'm relaunching my efforts at promoting my favorite place on earth, the City of Arts and Flowers - Lompoc. Some health issues got in the way for a while but I'm back and ready to begin anew.
